SUMMARY:Chris Duarte
DESCRIPTION:To classify Chris Duarte simply as a Blues Man is an understatement.  In his own words\, “rockin’ blues” or ”punk blues” describes him best.  “Ferocious blues” also fits.  Legend has it that Chris will play so hard that his fingers bleed in a set.  The legend is true.  Photos attest. \nChris Duarte is a road warrior playing more than 150 dates a year.  As well\, Chris has headlined major festivals and clubs throughout the US\, Canada and Europe. \nChris is a savant\, a sorcerer of tone\, a master at channeling the spirits and sounds of great musicians of our past\, while remaining completely recognizable in his own sound.  He has shared his stage with many of the greatest musicians of our time as well as the multitude of “young lions” and local musicians he meets on the road.  From his many years as a side man in Austin\, he easily changes roles from front to side\, graciously allowing all to share the conversation of the jam. \nChris Duarte’s music is ever changing.  In many interviews\, he has said “Music must evolve.”  His own early offerings often become magical journeys into changing tempo and jazzy interludes before returning to their core.  With such a vast catalog of recordings\, there are no two shows alike.  Every set list is different\, and each song may be offered distinctly\, based on the feel of a show and the audience.  For those reasons\, loyal fans often return to a Chris Duarte show again and again\, and always walk away awed and satisfied to have witnessed such a legendary\, but humble guitarist. \n

SUMMARY:Jade Brodie
DESCRIPTION:ALBUM RELEASE SHOW: Jade Brodie-Horse Money\n  \n\n\nFrom the beginning\, Jade Brodie has paved her own way. Armed with life experience and the truth\, Brodie has begun to carve out her space in western songwriting using her unique style that blends each era of her life and facet of her personality with flawless depth and simplicity. \nBrodie was raised in a small rural town most famous for its role as not only\, “The Egg Basket of the World”\, but also the filming location for Alfred Hitchcock’s\, “The Bird’s”. Petaluma’s unique combination of dairy and poultry farming heritage\, historic Victorian architecture\, and direct correlation to the arts set the stage for Brodie’s unique take on the world\, creating in her a set of values and interests that would eventually come full circle as her life played out. \nBrodie left high school early\, opting to move out on her own and start creating a path for herself at a young age. She worked odd jobs to pay the bills and began to explore her relationship with music\, playing guitar and writing songs as an outlet for her creativity along the way. Eventually\, she took a job with the railroad\, with the intention of becoming a railroad mechanic\, but eventually switched tracks and took a conductor job with Union Pacific instead. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nUnion Pacific took her to Winnemucca\, NV. With half her time spent away from home\, Brodie found the space to write and play more frequently\, using her time plugging away down rail lines and nights spent alone in hotel rooms to pen songs about the things she was seeing\, feeling\, and experiencing. Hard hats and hard living began to take their toll\, but almost fortuitously\, Brodie was furloughed and forced to choose between life in rural Nevada\, or a move back to urban San Jose\, CA with the railroad. Brodie “pulled the pin” and never looked back\, leaving her life on the rails for a job on a working cattle ranch — a decision largely driven by her lifelong love of horses. \nRanch life stuck. Brodie is still a working cowboy on one of the famed “big outfits” of Northern Nevada\, writing songs about her new way of life in the same way she wrote about life on the railroad — with a truthfulness born of living what she writes about. Her songs are rich and multi-dimensional\, balancing the hard realities of ranch life with a uniquely feminine perspective\, sung and played in her soft yet forceful way. \nBrodie has been featured in a number of songwriter showcases and plays independently throughout the western states\, but most of the time she can be found in the saddle with a good horse beneath her and a good dog trotting along at her side\, likely thinking on her next song and living life one day at a time.

SUMMARY:Hannah Juanita with Mose Wilson
DESCRIPTION:Hannah Juanita left her home state of Tennessee in her early twenties\, excited to meet the world. She travelled in search of herself\, worked odd jobs\, and spent countless nights singing fireside under the stars with friends\, never pursuing music as a career.  \nEventually\, Hannah made it back to Tennessee\, landing in Nashville with nothing but her dog Loretta\, her guitar\, and a handful of heartbreak songs. She started singing around town and quickly became a staple live performer and a highly respected vocalist in the traditional country scene in Music City\, known for her classic\, old school sound.  \nSelf proclaimed ramblin’ gal\, Hannah Juanita has toured heavily around the country since 2021 headlining and supporting acts like Kaitlin Butts\, Hayes Carll\, Braxton Keith\, Nick Shoulders\, Emily Nenni\, Summer Dean\, and Jesse Daniel. Her debut record ‘Hardliner’ established her reputation as a full-hearted\, free-spirited\, and irresistibly genuine honky tonk angel. Hannah Juanita’s second full length record\, ‘Tennessee Songbird’\, produced by Mose Wilson\, was released August 30\, 2024 to high acclaim\, breaking into the top 40 on the Americana Radio Chart and top 3 on the Alt Country Chart. Named one of the five female artists creating the future of country music by Grammy.com\, in 2025\, Hannah will be touring across America and Europe. \nMose Wilson is a talented artist blending roots\, country\, Americana\, and bluegrass with influences of soul\, funk\, and rock & roll. Starting his musical journey at six\, he became the first traditional musician in his family\, inspired by legends like Hank Williams and Johnny Cash. \nHis self-titled debut album\, **“Mose Wilson\,”** released in 2021\, received critical acclaim and showcased his ability to explore themes of love\, heartbreak\, and the complexities of life. As a guitarist\, songwriter\, and producer\, Mose has collaborated with artists such as Melissa Carper and Eliza Thorn. \nWith his upcoming album\, **“That’s Love\,”** Mose invites listeners to experience the heartfelt connection of his music. \nTickets $20 \n

SUMMARY:Kyle-Matthew Taylor
DESCRIPTION:Kyle-Matthew Taylor writes Americana songs rooted in earnest storytelling and the grit and grace of lived experience. His sound pulls from the quiet growl of Gillian Welch\, the wry storytelling of John Prine\, and the alt-rock sway of Wilco and Drive-By Truckers. After spending a decade in the Texas Hill Country—where he fronted the indie-rock project The Canvas People and sharpened his voice as a songwriter—he relocated to Nevada in 2021. His songs carry the fingerprints of his northeastern roots\, his years in Austin’s creative orbit\, and the lived-in honesty he brings to every lyric. Taylor’s music bridges heartache\, hope\, and the quiet moments in between.  Join us for some Saturday night joy with Kyle and his band.

SUMMARY:Lacy J Dalton
DESCRIPTION:Lacy J. Dalton is a Grammy nominated singer/songwriter from Bloomsburg\, Pennsylvania. She’s one of the most instantly recognizable voices in music – the woman People Magazine called “Country’s Bonnie Raitt.” She was awarded “Top New Female Vocalist of the Year” in 1979 by the Academy of Country Music\, and quickly rose to national prominence with her hit single “Crazy Blue Eyes\,” a song that raced to #7 on the Billboard Country Charts. Lacy’s collaboration with Willie Nelson on his Half Nelson CD was a high spot for her. Lacy was the only woman featured on that recording (which included singing legends Ray Charles\, Neil Diamond\, Merle Haggard\, Julio Iglesias\, George Jones\, Leon Russell\, Carlos Santana\, Mel Tillis\, Hank Williams Sr.\, and Neil Young)\, and was awarded a Platinum Record for it. She also received a Gold Record from Hank Williams Jr. in 1985 for her support performances throughout his Five-0 Tour. She quickly became one of the few women who could successfully share the stage with the likes of Hank Williams Jr.\, Willie Nelson\, George Jones\, Glen Campbell\, Merle Haggard and Charlie Daniels. Her Hit records are legendary million-airplay cuts: “Hard Times\,” “Crazy Blue Eyes\,” “Hillbilly Girl with the Blues.” “Takin’ it Easy\,” “Everybody Makes Mistakes\,” the worldwide hit “Black Coffee\,” and her signature song “16th Avenue\,” the anthem for Nashville songwriters voted one of Country’s Top 100 songs ever by Billboard Magazine. Her career includes accomplishments in music\, film and radio. As an independent artist with her own label called Song Dog Records\, Lacy has released three albums\, “Wild Horse Crossing” in 1999\, a tribute to Hank Williams Sr. entitled “Here’s To Hank” in 2010\, and her first Americana album “The Last Wild Place Anthology” in 2006.

SUMMARY:The Coffis Brothers
DESCRIPTION:A Winnemucca audience favorite returns!  This show will be part of an amazing weekend of creativity and connection with the inaugural Winnemucca Murals and Music Festival.  \n\n\n\n\n\nWith two songwriters\, six albums\, and more than a thousand shows under their belt\, The Coffis Brothers have earned their reputation as modern-day torchbearers of all-American rock & roll. It’s a sound caught halfway between amplified Americana\, acoustic folk\, roadhouse R&B\, and electrifying roots music\, crafted by a pair of California-born siblings who’ve been sharing the stage since childhood\, and the five piece band filled out by Kyle Poppen (guitar)\, Aidan Collins (bass)\, and Cory Graves (drums). \nThat sound reaches a new peak with Kaw-fis Bruth-urs. The band’s third collaboration with Bay Area legend (and longtime Mother Hips frontman) Tim Bluhm\, who serves as the album’s producer\, Kaw-fis Bruth-urs finds Jamie and Kellen Coffis letting their guard down\, enjoying the creative ride as much as the destination itself. For every signature-sounding song like “Cut Right Through” — a heartland rock anthem built for highway drives and long horizons\, as sunny as the band’s Golden State homeland and as hook-driven as a Tom Petty classic — there’s another track that stretches the band’s sound into new territory. The result is The Coffis Brothers’ widest-ranging album yet\, running the gamut from bluesy\, blue-eyed soul (“Face the Music”) to jangling\, harmony-heavy power pop (“Do You Want To”).   \n\nGet tickets now! \n\n\n

SUMMARY:Tale of the Jackalope-Live Multimedia Presentation
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a presentation on the history of the jackalope.  Part rabbit\, part antelope\, full American West icon.  Learn about the myths\, the hoaxes\, the very real scientific breakthrough it inspired.  Our guests will be author and jackalope expert Michael P. Branch (On the Trail of the Jackalope) and radiomaker Fil Corbitt (from the podcast The Wind) with their live performance about the elusive and omnipresent critter. Originally aired on the podcast 99% Invisible\, this live reading will combine interviews\, music\, and audio clips to tell the story in a live multimedia presentation.\n  \n             \nAn award-winning humorist and high desert writer\, Michael Branch is Foundation Professor at the University of Nevada\, Reno. He has authored more than 300 essays and reviews\, and 10 books\, including his Nevada trilogy: Raising Wild\, Rants from the Hill\, and How to Cuss in Western. Mike’s recent book\, On the Trail of the Jackalope\, has been called “an entertaining and enlightening road trip to the heart of an American legend.” Mike lives with his wife and daughters in the high desert of northwestern Nevada. There he writes\, plays harmonica\, curses at baseball on the radio\, and walks more than 1\,000 miles each year (with Huckleberry the dog) in the remote hills\, canyons\, arroyos\, and playas. \n             \nA few years ago\, radiomaker Fil Corbitt found a handsaw in the mountains and built a small desk out in the woods. High in the Sierra Nevada\, flanked by an aspen grove and a lodgepole pine stand\, this is where Fil makes The Wind—a critically acclaimed podcast that investigates our relationship to place through sound. The Wind has aired nationally and internationally on 99% Invisible\, Snap Judgement\, and BBC’s Shortcuts\, and has featured interviews with John Luther Adams\, buZ blurr\, Jessica Bruder (Nomadland)\, Gary Farmer\, Dom Flemons\, and Joe Lally (Fugazi)\, among many others\, and has covered everything from Brazilian punk music to the history of cowboy yodeling. \nThis literary event is free and made possible by Great Basin Arts and Entertainment in memory of Aliceann Doyle. \nRSVP today!

SUMMARY:Alastair Greene
DESCRIPTION:Featuring funky\, swampy grooves and flights of muscular guitar\, Greene delivers rock and blues stirred by touchstones such as Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble\, yet perhaps most often guided by the roadmap of Gov’t Mule and that band’s synthesis of The Allman Brothers Band’s improvisational firepower and the raw\, stripped-down electric Blues-rock of Cream. \nA native of Santa Barbara\,California and now residing in Austin\, Texas Alastair Greene has ridden his Blues-soaked rock into the 21st century\, traversing a constantly changing global (and musical) landscape. \nA much in-demand guitarist and vocalist\, Greene traveled the world\, touring with the legendary Alan Parsons Live Project from 2010 – 2017\, as well as stints with Starship featuring Mickey Thomas and\, most recently\, (2018-2019) Blues Music Award-winner Sugaray Rayford. His work with Parsons\, in particular\, sparked a conversation with renowned multi-instrumentalist and producer Tab Benoit at a Las Vegas blues festival. In 2019\, Greene signed with Benoit’s Whiskey Bayou Records label and released 2 records\, “The New World Blues’ (2020) and “Alive In The New World” (2023). Greene toured the U.S. consistently in 2021 and 2022 opening over 100 shows for Benoit. \nWith a strong batch of original songs rooted in blues and southern rock traditions\, STANDING OUT LOUD\, his latest album\,  builds upon the momentum created by his critically acclaimed solo releases of recent years. \nWith the album complete\, Greene is itching to hit the road.  “I’ve toured Europe many times as the guitarist with the Alan Parsons Live Project\, and I’m excited to be bringing my music to the people.” \n \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Tyler John Kraehling with Ruru
DESCRIPTION:Hailing from the Northeastern states\, Tyler John Kraehling has been traveling through the country with eyes open\, taking stock of the lives of the people who inhabit it. Drenched in the tradition of American troubadours\, he tells stories that speak to the novelties and banalities of what it means to walk this earth. Living everywhere from Los Angeles\, New York City\, Idaho\, Vermont\, Texas and most recently Montana\, he boasts a claim that he is in a unique company of travelers who are qualified to tell the stories they do\, with the universe of detail they do. His fingerpicking styles range from the folk staples of John Prine and Townes Van Zandt to the country-blues of legends Furry Lewis\, Taj Mahal and Chris Smither. Armed with songs that will make you feel the full spectrum of emotion\, and with clothes and guitars that are mostly second-hand; his songs are anything but. \nPlaying another set on the show will be Ruru.  Ruru is a singer-songwriter originally from Wales\, now living and working on a ranch with his wife in Owyhee County\, Idaho. Having spent the last decade in Australia working cattle in remote far North Queensland and as a Carpenter on the surf coast chasing waves. Ru brings the grit and soul of his experiences to his music\, crafting heartfelt songs about work\, ranching\, love\, and life. \n

SUMMARY:Big Richard
DESCRIPTION:The world-class musicians in Big Richard initially convened in 2021 for a festival date. The quartet showed up to the one-off like it had been together for years\, bursting with jaw-dropping virtuosity; playfully irreverent stage banter; stunning four-part harmony vocal interlace; imaginative arrangements; a refreshingly eclectic repertoire; and a healthy dose of lady rage. \nBig Richard siphons from traditional bluegrass\, oldtime\, classical\, modern bluegrass\, country\, and pop. The four-piece band masterfully mash up genres\, often using traditional fiddle tune pieces as instrumental flights of fancy between its storyteller original songs. The group also refreshingly reinvents beloved traditional tunes. \nInstrumental and vocal prowess mixed with charismatic stage presence create an opportunity for live music that should not be missed. \nGet your tickets now for their return show in Winnemucca on March 24th\, 2025.  Tickets on sale now at gbae.org.

SUMMARY:Alash-Tuvan Throat Singers
DESCRIPTION:ALASH are masters of Tuvan throat singing (xöömei)\, a remarkable technique for singing multiple pitches at the same time. What distinguishes this trio from earlier generations of Tuvan throat singers is the subtle infusion of modern influences into their traditional music. One can find complex harmonies\, western instruments\, and contemporary song forms in Alash’s music\, but its overall sound and spirit remain decidedly Tuvan. Trained in traditional Tuvan music since childhood\, the Alash musicians studied at Kyzyl Arts College just as Tuva was beginning to open up to the West. They formed a traditional ensemble and won multiple awards for traditional throat singing in international xöömei competitions\, both as an ensemble and as individuals. At the same time\, they paid close attention to new trends coming out of the West. They have borrowed new ideas that mesh well with the sound and feel of traditional Tuvan music\, but they have never sacrificed the integrity of their own heritage in an effort to make their music more hip. Alash first toured the U.S. under the sponsorship of the Open World Leadership program of the Library of Congress and the National Endowment for the Arts. Since then they have returned many times\, to the delight of American audiences. The Washington Post described their music as “utterly stunning\,” quipping that after the performance “audience members picked their jaws up off the floor.” \n

SUMMARY:The Horsenecks
DESCRIPTION:Old Time Music\nThe Horsenecks play hard-hitting and heartfelt\, traditional and original roots music. Their sound is centered around the pairing of the signature rhythmic Appalachian fiddle style of Oregonian Gabrielle Macrae and the inspired guitar and driving yet subtle banjo playing of Liverpudlian Barry Southern. Gabrielle’s playing style is the result of being raised in the Old Time music hotbed of Portland\, OR and being exposed to the fiddle traditions of the Southeast US through years of traveling to festivals and learning from some of the greatest players in the genre. Her love of traditional music brought her to North Carolina as a teenager where she fully immersed herself in the music of the region and gained notoriety in the Old Time Music world as a clawhammer banjo player after releasing an album with the Macrae Sisters in 2008 that received glowing reviews and became one of the iconic Old Time albums of it’s generation. Barry’s banjo playing ranges from thrilling and high-octane to moody and captivating\, and his versatility shines whether playing clawhammer or driving three-finger banjo. Also an accomplished guitarist\, Barry has been consistently active in Liverpools music scene for over 20 years\, playing lead guitar with cult heroes Tramp Attack ( Must Destroy Records) and on into the UK Old Time and Bluegrass scene\, playing with multiple groups. Harmony singing and thoughtful song writing bring The Horsenecks to the stage with a compelling take on the music that moves them; foot-stomping dance tunes\, innovative fiddle-banjo compositions and heartfelt and inspired lyrics and harmony singing. Whether they are singing centuries-old ballads\, their own songs\, or getting you up and dancing with a barn-burning fiddle tune\, they remain firmly rooted in tradition\, paying homage to the depth and richness of the music they have immersed themselves in for the last two decades. \n

SUMMARY:John R Miller
DESCRIPTION:Essential Singer-Songwriter\nJohn R Miller is a true hyphenate artist: singer-songwriter-picker. Every song on his thrilling upcoming debut solo album\, Depreciated\, is lush with intricate wordplay and haunting imagery\, as well as being backed by a band that is on fire.  One of his biggest long-time fans is roots music favorite Tyler Childers\, who says he’s “a well-travelled wordsmith mapping out the world he’s seen\, three chords at a time.” Miller is somehow able to transport us to a shadowy honkytonk and get existential all in the same line with his tightly written compositions. Miller’s own guitar-playing is on fine display here along with vocals that evoke the white-waters of the Potomac River rumbling below the high ridges of his native Shenandoah Valley. \nHis latest album Heat Come Down is an celebration expression of craft and has garnered much attention.  NPR writes\, “On his new album Heat Comes Down\, the West Virginia-raised\, Nashville-based artist intimately narrates his sleepless nights and nostalgic daydreams\, existential dread\, and nuanced observations of the troubled world around him. But while a number of its songs convey a certain unease\, Miller endlessly imparts the kind of lovely reassurance that can only come from shared catharsis.” \nDo not miss this one friends.  $20 tickets available at The Martin Hotel or online at gbae.org. \n \n  \nFor more artist information \nVisit Official Website of John R Miller
